Jakarta, April 3rd 2014 – CHANEL unveils a new boutique at the prestigious shopping size of the House’s centre, Plaza Indonesia. The boutique now offers a total space of 4,500-square-foot and is almost double the previous location.

Like other CHANEL boutiques around the world, this boutique was designed by celebrated New York based architect Peter Marino. Under his careful direction, three elements that represent the very essence of CHANEL – luxury, elegance and modernity – are brought harmoniously together under one roof.

The distinctive and minimalist white façade of the boutique catches the eye immediately. Three elegantly spacious windows feature displays of the latest collection created by CHANEL’s artistic director, Karl Lagerfeld. Inside the boutique, the pure lines are explored through a subtle play on the materials and the House’s iconic palette of colours. Marbles, bronzes, tweeds, lace and jersey are showcased in a range of white, beige and gold.

Upon entering, clients are greeted by the latest collection of handbags in a stunning palette of colours and designs. Alongside, clients are invited to discover the shoe salon, embellished with a glazed stoneware and gold leaf sculpture titled “La Gloire” by ceramic sculptor Johan Creten. Luxurious tweed sofas offer a relaxing haven to try on the latest collections off the runway. Hanging majestically overhead is a magnificent chandelier specially made by Goossens, one of the ten Métiers d’Art ateliers that CHANEL has committed to preserve and perpetuate for their unique savoir-faire.

The Ready-to-Wear “salon” and two intimate fitting rooms offer a cosy atmosphere, evoking a residential feel loosely reminiscent of Mademoiselle Chanel’s apartment on 31, rue Cambon in Paris. Serving as a private salon that may be closed off from the rest of the boutique, clients are invited to linger on the welcoming tweed sofas while they peruse the collection. The presence of specially-commissioned, site-specific works by artists Peter Dayton and Robert Greene, as well a side table by Christophe Côme give this “salon” its exclusive character.

Passing through a vestibule graced by two artworks by Liza Lou titled “Gather”, clients are welcomed by an exquisite showcase of CHANEL accessories which provides them with a leisurely browsing experience between the different accessory categories. The exhibition space for selected CHANEL timepieces from the Première and the J12 collections extends to a gracefully designed window, visible from Plaza Indonesia’s main corridor.

An elegant and sophisticated environment that showcases CHANEL’s creativity, ensuring an unforgettable shopping experience in Jakarta.
